Christopher J. Capalbo | Biography


Christopher Capalbo was hired as part of the distinguished subrogation team of Siegel, Moreno & Stettler, where he pursues his interest and passion for litigation. He was made Partner of the firm in 2009. He is responsible for the operation and management of the subrogation department. His responsibilities include all aspects of the prosecution and litigation of subrogation cases through out the state of California, including premises liability, products liability, vehicular negligence, and all other aspects of conduct leading to damage to person or property. In addition, Mr. Capalbo represents plaintiffs in personal injury matters, including a $4,700,000.00 recovery.

Mr. Capalbo is an active member of the National Association of Subrogation Professionals (NASP). In 2009 he presented to a national audience at NASP’s Litigation Conference on the topic of barriers to settlement. He was nominated to be the Workers Compensation Track Leader for the 2010 & 2011 Litigation Skills Conferences. He is presenting at the 2013 NASP National Conference. He has also spoken at the local Southern California NASP chapter meetings. Additionally, he is part of the editorial subcommittee for NASP’s magazine, The Subrogator, responsible for peer review on articles for publication. He was also selected to present on the topic of MSAs in the context of workers compensation subrogation cases to the San Diego Bar Association and Certified Medicare Secondary Payer Professional Program.

As for his background, Mr. Capalbo graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree with honors. Mr. Capalbo earned his Juris Doctorate at the University of San Diego School of Law, where he developed his skills in trial advocacy.


Among his accomplishments are:


• Winner of the Thorsnes Closing Argument Competition
• Highest Grade in Advanced Trial Advocacy
• Finalist in the Association of Trial Lawyers of America Western Regional Tournament
• Two Semi-Final appearances in the Consumer Attorneys State Trial Competition.


After graduating from law school, Mr. Capalbo was hired by the San Diego District Attorney’s Office. He was responsible for Superior Court felony cases including drug possession, burglary, drug sales, arson, robbery, forgery, and assault with a deadly weapon. Mr. Capalbo handled over 250 felony cases during his time with the DA’s Office. He was featured on NBC’s nationally televised show “Crime and Punishment” while second-chairing a complex child molestation trial.


Additional memberships include the San Diego Bar Association, American Association for Justice (formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America), the Louis M. Welsh American Inn of Court, and in 2006, was a San Diego Daily Transcript Top Attorneys semifinalist.
