Justina L. Tate
ASSOCIATE

Justina Tate graduated from Vassar College with dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Sociology and Religion. While there, she obtained an externship in the longstanding Green Haven Prison Program, an educational course centered on creating sociological dialogue between students and inmates. She was also a member of the women's varsity basketball and soccer teams.

Ms. Tate earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego School of Law.

Among her accomplishments are:

  • Member of USD's International Arbitration team. Traveled to Hong Kong to compete in the annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot competition.
  • Outstanding Oral Advocacy award in Appellate Argument Competition.
  • Best Writing award in Advanced Legal Writing.
  • CALI Award for the Highest Grade in Civil Rights Theories.
  • Two-time President of USD's Sports & Entertainment Law Society
  • Pro Bono program participant: taught research and debate skills at Monarch School, dedicated to homeless and at-risk youth in the San Diego area.

During her final year of law school, Ms. Tate worked as a law clerk in the esteemed insurance subrogation department of Siegel, Moreno & Stettler. The firm, impressed by her lawyering skills, promptly hired her as an associate attorney upon passing the California Bar Examination. Her practice focuses on all aspects associated with the litigation of subrogation cases.

Ms. Tate is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association, the National Association of Subrogation Professionals, and the American Bar Association. Her outside interests include photography, playing flag football, snowboarding, and traveling, especially through Europe.

Ms. Tate is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of California, the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, and the Supreme Court of the State of Oregon.
